On April 24, 2023, the first meeting of the second session of the China Diving and Salvage Industry Association's second session of the Straits Salvage and Underwater Engineering Integration and Development Technology Exchange and Branch Election Conference was successfully held in Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone, Fujian Province.The conference aimed to develop, innovate, integrate, and achieve win-win results, further improve the quality and standards of marine underwater engineering technology, explore various marine business resources, and enhance dialogue and cooperation in the field of marine underwater technology with domestic and foreign countries and the two sides of the Taiwan Straits.More than 100 experts from various fields including politics, industry, academia, research, and application gathered together to carry out in-depth exchanges on the high-quality development and construction of marine technology on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

Zheng Xiaodong, member of the Party Working Committee of Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone in Fujian Province, and Song Jiahui, chairman of the China Diving and Salvage Industry Association, delivered speeches at the conference.

Zheng Xiaodong, member of the Party Working Committee of Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone, said in his speech, "The Haizhuang Committee is the only branch of the China Diving and Salvage Industry Association that exchanges with Taiwan, and it is also an important platform for cross-strait grassroots people to exchange, help and support each other and promote common development. Using love to promote cross-strait exchanges and help establish the Pingtan-Lanhai Maritime Rescue Foundation are the first non-governmental foundations in China with the theme of maritime rescue and relief. Through seminars, inspections and other ways, we will strengthen cross-strait communication and mutual visits. We will deepen reform and innovation, actively carry out cooperation in the research and development of offshore wind power and intelligent equipment, and complete the transformation from traditional offshore engineering enterprises to wind power giants. Pingtan is established for Taiwan and prospers for the sea.

Song Jiahui, chairman of the China Diving and Salvage Industry Association, said,   "In recent years, the salvage industry on both sides of the Taiwan Strait has developed vigorously. With the joint efforts of all member units of the branch, we have always followed the development idea of one goal, two pursuits, and three services of the association. We have been working in the spirit of keeping our original aspiration and mission in mind. In the work of promoting the common maintenance of maritime security, exchanging technical experience, advocating social responsibility, and building a green homeland on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, we have carried out a number of business work in a solid and orderly manner and achieved many outstanding achievements. We have reason to believe that after the completion of this meeting, it will play a more active role and make a more positive contribution to further promoting the integration and development of salvage and underwater engineering technology on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, facilitating communication between the two sides, and promotingpeaceful development on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

This event set up a awarding ceremony for the renaming of the original Straits Underwater Engineering Technology Integration and Development Professional Committee to the Straits Salvage and Underwater Engineering Technology Integration and Development Branch.  The renaming of the professional committee to the branch is in line with the characteristics and needs of the times, reflecting the theme of "integration and development".
